ABOUT US

Meherrin on Mission’s goal is to impact individuals through the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. We strive to meet immediate physical needs, while emphasizing internal transformation for lasting hope and positive impact on others. Our motivation is to demonstratethe non-discriminatory love of Jesus Christ during times of crisis. We also aim to assistindividuals in fulfilling their calling and equipping them for service by providingfinancial support for education and training.

It is imperative that Meherrin on Mission (MOM) support the Biblical command to ‘go and make disciples of all the nations. Jesus Christ is the world’s only hope for lasting change. The gospel message (Jesus Christ) heals marriages and families, teaches justice andgives counsel on how to run a business with integrity and wisdom; it gives hope to the broken hearted and downtrodden; it changes societies as it changes lives one life at a time.

Three Pillars of Focus for Meherrin on Mission

-------------Disaster Relief -Disaster is defined as a sudden event, such as an accident or a natural catastrophe that causes great damage or loss of life.

When disaster strikes, Meherrin on Mission wants to be ready toassistthose in need. Our purpose is to provide monetaryassistance, physical manpower, necessary supplies or technical assistance.

-------------Missions -MOM will partner with ministries/missionaries that align with our statement of beliefsonly after completion of a vetting process which may include survey trips. We want to create strategic partnerships to invest in financially and opportunities in whichMeherrin employees can be physically and personally invested in at home or traveling abroad.

We seek to identify ministries/missionaries that have a presence in any country/region/area. We acknowledge that missionaries we partner with will be tied in locally wherever they are serving to indigenous believers.

------------Scholarships- Offering financial scholarships to our employees, their children, and children of Meherrin’s customersenrolled in a B.S. Ag or Life Science Program.

Sowing Seeds of Hope through Jesus Christ to transform the lives of people.

MOM was started in 2017 and it's now 2024, why am I just hearing about it now? The MOM board has been working behind the scenes both to make it a legitimate foundation with all the legal work necessary and by raising some funds to start various programs. We have been promoting MOM in the past for various disaster relief projects like hurricane relief in the US and Samaritans Purse work in the Ukraine. We have just completed 3 years of scholarship funding totaling over $200,000.

Meherrin Board, which includes both the food and the agriculture sides, has given generously to Meherrin on Mission over the past 3 years. Also, we have had 3 golf tournaments that have taken in over $350,000 over the past 3 years. We celebrate both fundraising streams. Now we are ready for each of you to be involved in a more active way and we feel that by showing you how we have been involved to this point, you can feel more confident in partnering with us. Please know that your involvement in giving is completely voluntary. If you are not able to give or you give to your church or other non-profit groups, great! Please continue to do so. You will never be forced to give. We just want to make this available to any employee that wishes to do so. Whether you would like to give $1 or $100 per pay period, we are honored by your willingness to give.

Over the past 12 months, MOM has financially supported the following:

  • Several crisis pregnancy care centers in multiple states

  • Several employees and children of employees have been sponsored on missions' trips

  • Supported the Wilcox Christian Learning Center in Rochelle, GA

  • Helped with a disaster relief incident with fire damage

  • Purchased an additional trailer for disaster relief that will be outfitted with tools and moved to Georgia

  • Supported Cry Freedom who rescues, restores, empowers and employes men & women who have been victims of sex trafficking

  • SupportedNew Mexico Christian Childrens Home in Portales, NM

  • Funded to start a Compassion International project for kids in La Paz, Bolivia

  • Started another project with ICM to build a church and hope center in Nicaragua & Mexico

Our work with ICM. As an international Christian organization, their strategy is to reach the world for Christ effectively. Equipping local churches with the tools they need to grow allows entire nations to be blanketed with healthy churches. Also, when local churches invest their own effort and resources into each project, the result is a sense of ownership, long-term sustainability, and a greater impact for every dollar you give.MOM has partnered with ICM to build churches in Brazil, Egypt and Vietnam. Dan Varian, Mikayla Calhoun and Kyle Patterson fromHampton Farmswent to Honduras in October 2022 to see firsthand what ICM is doing and vet this ministry. They were surprised to see the work that ICM had done there. Surprisingly in these areas there were no community buildings that the locals were able to use. After these churches and hope centers were built, they brought in so many kids and adults from within the community and were able to meet the needs of the community.

As we partner with ICM financially, they match our money with a local group of believers in each country that needs a permanent building (either a church or a hope center). This groupis required to have at least 100 members to apply for funding. They must own the land and either provide the labor or hire it out. They receive around $15,000 to purchase building materials (for a church) or $30,000 (for a hope center) and they have a certain timeframe to have the building built. The plans for each building are designed by an engineer. The local group is also responsible for outfitting with any chairs, sound equipment and other items. After construction is completed, many of these groups rapidly increase in number since they have a permanent place to meet. They also have to agree to start other groups in the future.

In May of 2023, MOM has entered into a new agreement with ICM to buildmultiple churches and hope centers in Nicaragua and Mexico.

Compassion International

In 2022, MOM decided to reach out to domestic and international children’s organizations that share Meherrin on Mission’s values and vision for helping children in the name of Jesus. MOM desires to feed the children physically, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. CI takes a holistic approach to helping the poorest of the poor children through indigenouslocal churches. In fact, Don Rosie with Meherrin spent a week in Guatemala recently on a vision trip for the MOM board. After returning from the CI Guatemalan trip, Don personally endorses CI as an organization that MOM would like to partner with.

MOM has gifted $32K towards a compassion project this year (fully funded the initial start-up). The location is in El Alto, La Paz (Bolivia). MOM has reserved 25 of 165 registered children for Meherrin employee sponsorships. If you would like to sponsor a child, then you can use the linkwww.compassion.com/MeherrinOnMissionBoliviaand it will take you directly to the compassion website and the link will explain how everything works. This URL website link will also group your child sponsorship toMOM.

Part of the vision for this partnership between MOM and CI is to have employees go and visit MOM associated children in the future. Additionally, MOM would also look for ways to help the MOM sponsored children and their families / communities.

Some potential examples:

  • Not having access to clean water - MOM might pay for a community well.

  • Lack of medical / dental hygiene – MOM might sponsor a dentist / Dr to go on mission to our sponsored project to help the children

  • Housing repair needs – employees could go over on a mission’s trip to share the love of God by being the hands and feet of Christ

  • Growing food – probably some folks in our company that might could be of some help here as well
